MindfulCBT Psychotherapy

Testimonials

We are a private psychotherapy practice in Midleton, East Cork.

I enrolled in the 10-session Mindfulness Course with John after experiencing a significant burnout. The overwhelming stress of daily life but especially work had taken its toll, and I knew I needed to find a way to regain control and restore my mental and emotional well-being. This course was exactly what I needed.
Throughout the program, I learned practical mindfulness techniques that helped me develop a deeper awareness of my thoughts, feelings, and stress triggers. The meditation practices, breathing exercises, and guided reflections taught me how to respond to stress rather than react to it. I found myself more centered, calm, and focused, even during challenging moments.

The course gave me tools to manage my stress more effectively, and I now approach difficult situations with a sense of balance and clarity. It’s amazing how much of a difference a few simple techniques can make in your day-to-day life. Even now (nearly 2 months later) I feel more empowered and equipped to face life’s challenges with a renewed sense of resilience.

Last not least John is just amazing. His supportive, calm and non judgemental approach made it easy to get into everything and if you’re feeling overwhelmed or burnt out, I highly recommend this course. It’s a transformative experience that not only helps with stress but also promotes long-term mental wellness.

I had recently been diagnosed with ADHD and while dealing with that bombshell, I also experienced a major burnout in work. I was wiped out, to the point where I felt constantly exhausted with a low mood and quit my job.

My local GP recommended I try contact John Cummins to undergo Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness.

From our very first call, I found it very easy to talk to John and felt he listened to my situation intently and understood how I was feeling.

John and I agreed to investigate why the burnout from work had happened in the first place. Once we got to the bottom of this, John guided me through a 6 week mindfulness course to enable me deal with stressful situations, should they arise again when I returned to the workplace.

By the end of the 6 weeks, I not only had an arsenal of stress reduction tools, I had a complete perspective shift.

John enabled me to step back from the chaos of work which had dominated my headspace in a negative way, clouding out all the good stuff I did not fully appreciate at the time.

Using meditation, journaling and mindful walking exercises, I started paying attention to the present moment, stopped constantly judging myself or searching for validation and figured out what energises me and started enjoying life again.

I’ve gone from living life at 100miles an hour to being able to appreciate the beauty of the natural world around me. Once you experience slowing down and being present, it is much easier to recognise when life might start to speed up, allowing you to avoid the situation altogether.
